The Lane Titans upheld their status as one of the top programs in the Northwest Athletic Conference at the Southern Region Championships on Friday, Oct. 24.
Sophomore Andrew Rush won the men's 8K race in 25 minutes, 27.99 seconds while teammates Connor Lamb (26:37.92) and Tyler Davis (26:45.78) finished third and fourth, repectively. Two more Titans -- sophommore Hestin Duff-Estrada (27:06.68) and freshman Jeyder Espino Sosa (27:06.87) -- placed sixth and seventh. Their finishes propelled Lane to a Southern Region Championship. Other Titans to finish included freshman Matthew McChesney (16th overall in 28:15.51) and sophomore Robbie Johnston (21st in 28:41.03).
First-year runner Violet Powell ran a personal record (22:34.66) to finish second overall in the women's 6K race -- less than one second behind the individual champion Lydia Montes De Oca from Southwestern Oregon CC. The Titans finished second as a team with 76 total points.
Lane sophomore Chalis Bueckert and freshman Gracie Buergey were inside the top-20 with times of 25:52.36 and 25:55.10, respectively. Freshmman Jayde Reyes-Cornejo ran a personal best in 26:06.0. She was followed by sophomores Mia Piscopo (26:20.00) and Juliana Scull (26:57.89).
