EUGENE, OR -- The Lane Community College Titans men's and women's cross country teams exceeded expectations by finishing second and fourth, respectively, at the 2025 Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Championships in Spokane Valley, Wash. on Monday, Nov. 10.
Led by third-year head coach and NWAC Southern Region Coach of the Year, Chris Yorges, the Titan men placed second behind favorites, Spokane Community College Sasquatch.
"The men's team placed themselves near the front of the competition early and held on for an impressive second place," Yorges said.
Sophomore Andrew Rush finished nine second behind Spokane's first place finisher, Alex Wright. Rush was named an All-American following the conclusion of the race.
Yorges held his runner in high regard saying, "Andrew had an amazing race and was in an exciting battle for first place. He ran a consistent and courageous race."
Other finishers in the top-30 included sophomore Connor Lamb (11th overall, 26:28.5), sophomore Tyler Davis (17th, 27:02.2), freshman Jeyder Espino Sosa (19th, 27:20.1), sophomore Hestin Duff-Estrada (27th, 27:52.3), sophomore Robbie Johnson (28th, 27:55.7).
The Lane women placed fourth thanks in large part to All-American Violet Powell who ran the 6,000-meter course in 23:27.3. Sophomore Piscopo finished 30th in 25:52.7.
"Violet was persistent amidst a very talented front pack and finished an impressive fourth place," Yorges said. "The women's team moved up consistently during the race narrowly missing capturing third place.
I'm very proud of both teams' efforts and excited for our future as we continue to build our program."
