Keri Green Named NWAC Southern Region Coach of the Year

EUGENE, OR -- Lane Titan Volleyball Head Coach Keri Green has been named Coach of the Year in the NWAC Southern Region.

Green, in her second season at the helm for the Titans, led her team to a 4th place in the Southern Region and clinched an NWAC playoff berth after a win over SWOCC in a tiebreaker match.

After starting conference play at just 2-6, the Titans faced a seemingly insurmountable climb to playoff contention.

After winning their next four to get themselves back to 6-6, new life had rejuvenated the team and a shot at the playoffs suddenly opened.

The Titans had a gauntlet awaiting them, however, as their schedule placed them against four Top 10 ranked teams to finish the regular season.

In their first match, the Titans upset the #4 ranked, and eventual Southern Region Champions, Rogue Ospreys.

They then beat #10 ranked SWOCC and #9 ranked Clackamas before falling to Linn-Benton in the Southern Region finale.

After a tie in the standings with SWOCC, the Titans traveled to Coos Bay to once again take on the Lakers in a win or go home match to reach the NWAC Playoffs.

The Titans won in 4 sets and cemented an improbable playoff berth.

Coach Green and the Titans ended up winning 8 of their last 9 matches and secured a well deserved Coach of the Year award in just her second season.

The Titans travel to Edmonds, Washington to take on the Edmonds Tritons in the NWAC Regionals on Friday afternoon.
